Shrouded in shadows cast by trees swaying overhead, Jaggedstone paces through RiverClan camp, toes occasionally squishing through the mud lining his river-laden home. There was little to do where he had previously been - by the river. To many, he was an extremely boring cat. Usually emotionless in expression, mouth flattened into either a grimace, or an all-too-sneer-like smile, the slate tom wasn't popular with anyone but himself. Finally discovering a resting place in the embrace of a tall tree, the breed of which he couldn't recognize, the petite warrior settled down for a long, uneventful afternoon. After all, who would bother to approach him?

Feeling a cool breeze bristle through her sleek fur, the brown tortoiseshell, from the corner of her pale green eye, couldn't help but notice a petite, slate colored figure walking in the distance, and making towards a unidentified tree. The thought occurred to her that there was no other explanation as to who the cat might be. Jaggedstone. Scrambling to her paws, the eager apprentice just couldn't get enough of the Tom cat, even if he occasionally insulted her in a 'playful' manner. Trotting quickly after the male as he settled himself for what seemed to be 'relaxing', Turtlepaw blurted out. "Aren't you gonna climb it? It's a tree- Isn't it?"

He turned his head to the source of the sound, and had to bite back the laughter rising in his throat. Turtlepaw. The most awkward, haphazard, and...intriguing cat he'd met in the short term he called his life. Jaggedstone shuffled his lithe body along the forest floor, all too aware of the mud gathering in obnoxious clumps around his chest as he turned to face the mottled tortoiseshell. "I don't feel like it," He replied rather blandly, silver pools turning to hardened steel in the harsh sunlight. "I figured I might as well stay cool underneath this tree, as you've so eloquently pointed out." The slate tom allowed himself to laugh, now, as she would no doubt be further flustered by his response.

A smile curled on the apprentice's muzzle, glad that the Tom actually took the time to reply to the mottled tortoiseshell. Settling herself on her rear end and curling her thin tail atop her front paws, Turtlepaw perked her ears eagerly. "You don't.. Feel like it? Well thats silly." The apprentice reassured the petite framed Tom cat. Though, what took her attention was Jaggedstone's piercing gaze at it stared blankly at her own pale green pools. It was as of they were pure silver; With the sun reflecting off of their shiny glimmer. Rapidly blinking her eyes, the tortoiseshell fae snapped herself back into reality. "But.. It's not even that hot. Why should you shield yourself? The sun is the number one source of heat and light! Absorb it Mr!" There she went. Babbling about something completely off topic. Typical Turtlepaw.

Without skipping a beat, or pausing to realize the full extent of his actions, Jaggedstone reached forward with an alabaster-tipped forepaw, brushing the slender thing against Turtlepaw's muzzle as if to stop her. A genuinely amused smile traced his normally taut lips, and it seemed, at least for the moment, that she'd broken through the tough persona he always carried. In this moment, the blue-grey point wasn't curious, nor was the tortoiseshell an object of fascination he could simply study. He seemed to be actually enjoying himself. "Has anyone ever told you that you talk too much?"

As the chocolate tortoiseshell continued to babble along, her forever-going statement was promptly silenced by the placing of an alabaster-tipped paw on her muzzle. Frowning lightly as her pale green pools slightly narrowed, a few heart beats later, Turtlepaw widened her muzzle, and bit the slate tom's paw. Of course, it wasn't a hard, full on bite, but simply a nibble; Thought it just seemed necessary. "No. You'd be the first." The apprentice proclaimed with a tone of pure joy and amusement.

The smile faded in response to the bite, yet his laughter continued undeterred. Like the sound of distant rolling thunder, his soft chuckles flowed from unhinged jaws, wavering only as the slight shake of his head interrupted the noise. "I find myself greatly surprised by this. After all, wasn't the delightful Crowwhisker your mentor for a time?" Jaggedstone found himself beginning to completely ease into the enjoyment of Turtlepaw's company. This, of course, befuddled him far more than any statement of hers possibly could. Instead of allowing himself to drown - mentally - in those inviting forest green eyes of hers, edthe sharp-tongued tom meerly shrugged, and turned his head to the side.

The petite framed apprentice was taken back by the tom's constant barking of laughter. Honestly, it was a bit discomforting, until his shortly state statement. "You, are correct." The mottled tortoiseshell mrrowed in reply, beginning to break into a sea of giggles. Though, it was then, she caught a train of her thoughts. Shortly afterwards, her chuckling grew to a stop, and a frown was flipped from her previous grin. "But no more.. Crowwhisker I mean." She paused, taking a breath. "I train daily. On my own- And I tell myself not to give up, but. Then I think I'll never be like the other apprentices; Seeing as I've missed 2 moons of real training." Turtlepaw reassured the Tom cat. You'd normally count on her for staying positive, but when the thought of being mentorless occurred to her, it simply just brought her down.

"Then I'll train you." His reply was simple and without much emotion, following suit to his expression which had slipped back into what he considered professional. To others, it must have seemed rather impassive, if not a little rude. When the topic of someone's future came into question, Jaggedstone was all business. His own apprenticeship had been rough enough, what with his parents passing, and his brother's jealousy to top it all off. There couldn't be anything worse than a complicated childhood. The slate tom's cranium rotated from one side to another in a repetitious, methodical motion as a sigh fell from his lips. "We have a lot of work to do. You've missed a lot."

With ears flattened against her skull, it was almost as if she were a blooming flower after the tom's statement. Widening her pale green eyes and practically bouncing on the tip of her paws, Turtlepaw felt an enormous rush run throughout her body. "Wait. Are you serious? B-But. The leader's permission. We have no permission! What if we get in trouble! Oh dear StarClan this is a dream come true! But what if somebody tells Spiderstar. We'd be in so much trouble. But I can't pass down an opportunity like this! But it's not my decision.. It's Spiderstar's.." Yet again. Babbling continuously about what was right or wrong. Poor Jaggedstone, one might say. (Do you mind if we finish this rp session tomorrow? o: I have school tomorrow and I need to sleep. xc)

The blue-grey point chuckled in a lazy manner while ducking his head down to groom some of the unruly fur curling about his chest. Tiny bits of flaked mud floated to the grassy floor as the tom stood, satisfied that his fur was at least in a decent state. Why he even cared was a mystery. "I'll speak to Spiderstar the next time he's available, but for now, I seriously doubt we'll get in trouble for training. /Especially/ now." Jaggedstone's lips had thinned into his usual grimace, but the simple expression carried a much more subtle sourness. The clans had finally separated into their own territories, but things were still too uneasy for his liking. Loners peppered their camp, and were welcomed with open arms. Stars, they were turning into ThunderClan. Surely this was proof that StarClan was a kit's fantasy. If they existed, wouldn't they do something about all of this? Shaking his narrowed head, the slender tom turned back towards Turtlepaw. "Come on. Let's go."

The lithe, mottled tortoiseshell was simply watching with an odd flowing interest as the alabaster tom cat groomed his fur, before perking her ears upward in attention. "You will? Great!" The young fae exclaimed, bouncing up and down on the tips of her paws. Though, what eagerly caught her attention, was when the tom stated, 'Especially now.' There was an edge to his tone, which led a cool shiver down Turtlepaw's spine. It seemed as if there was nothing she could do, considering it was that the two were to leave at the moment's time. What if Jaggedstone wasn't who she thought he was? More of a Crowwhisker; Well, than Crowwhisker herself. /Of course not./ The tortoiseshell told herself, clearing her thoughts before leaping up beside the tom cat. "Let's go!" The fae proclaimed, a bright grin plastered on her muzzle.

The silver tomcat lead the way towards RiverClan's training hollow, glancing back at the tortoiseshell every so often when he was sure she wasn't aware. She was an odd little thing, wasn't she? He, himself, was not that old, and yet he found himself forgetting the boundless energy that accompanied youth. Jaggedstone's lips pursed. Sometimes, she seemed as interested as he was. Others, it was like some invisible force repelled back her previous animation and replaced it with the same tedious hesitation he often found her wearing around Crowwhisker. This thought seemed to dampen the tom's mood further, for whatever reason. Lithe paws and quick, powerful strides carried the slate tom across what seemed to be miles of grassy, and sometimes muddy, terrain. Every once in awhile, his steely gaze was greeted with the occasional little stream - a welcome reminder of RiverClan's strength and prowess. Finally, they reached the hollow. Wasting no time, Jaggedstone's pace increased tenfold, easily darting up the nearest tree. From there, he could direct Turtlepaw's training with an objective perspective. Of course, there were some downsides to being up so high. Their training was much more impersonal. Part of him welcomed the familiarity of distance. The other part felt colder, like the discarded wrinkled skin of a sun-dried raisin.
